Word on the street is that, Diablo 3 will be aired at Blizzcon. The rumor says that Diablo 3 will be an MMORPG like World of Warcraft only with the concept of heaven battling hell. This sounds like it could be pretty cool if they can carrying through the feel and concept of the last two games (Which in my opinion were some excellent RPG games especially with networked team coop gameplay). If this is true Blizzard is set to become the absolute undisputed king of MMORPGs in a few short years after the debut of WoW if they get the number of subscribers I think they will with Diablo 3.

No, it’s not what it sounds like. It’s a tech bench for easy swapout of your computer parts and for parts testing. This thing looks really handy. I’d love to get my hands on one for a review (Heck maybe it’s worth a shot).

I guess I’m on a Linux streak today but this one looks really nice so I thought I had to mention it. This is a desktop enviroment that is made to replicate windows. Now us hardcore Linux users may scoff at this but it’s made for people that are new to the linux enviroment. I personally think projects like this are great because they get people to try Linux and not be afraid of the sometimes confusing layout of gnome or KDE when they’re used to windows. Check it out:

Okay this thing is really handy! It’s a drive for Windows that will enable you to read and write to Linux Ext2 or Ext3 filesystems natively. This is great if you have a dual boot and you no longer need to create a fat32 share partition on your Windows XP machine. Check it out:

Microsoft building a fully Web-based Office? by ZDNet’s Richard MacManus — A “Microsoft insider” was asked which other products and services Microsoft would host and the reply was: “Everything. Hosted Office. Everything hosted.” Ahem, can anyone say Web 2.0 Office?
This was just too interesting to not make a post out of. Online office applications? I see two problems with this. The first one is of course security. I am sure this will be addressed, but I do not want all of my documents just out there. Yet like I said, I am sure this will have to be addressed, or no one would use it. Second is the access part. What if my net access craps out? Then I can’t work on my stuff.
The whole interconnected thing is great. I love some of the new stuff we are seeing, but some things we should question. Having everything online is one of them. Might be good, but that is no reason not to question it.

“Star Wars’ exhibit teaches tech” is the title of the article, once which just sparks the imagination. It’s a “Star Wars” fan’s dream according to Rueters. The first public display of props and costumes from all six films in the series, including a replica cockpit of Han Solo’s asteroid-battered Millennium Falcon. Apparently this exibit ran them a total of $5mil. (Now that’s a lot of stuff.)
Now that cool – the reasoning behind it isn’t bad, though I think it is worded poorly. The idea behind the exibit is because the Asian countries are getting ahead of us in engineers. Ok, maybe that is an economic problem in the future, but I think the real idea behind the exibit is better worded as “trying to spark the imagination of our youth.” Hoping more will join us in the fields of [insert engineering field here], where our numbers have been decreasing. Makes it sound less like a lame political ploy and more of an actual interest in the wellfair of our children.
That being said, it was a darn good article. Hopefully everyone will go and check it out – and come back to SGB and leave some comments on it for us.

This interview is on MTV Overdrive now and was showing on MTV on Thursday, October 27 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT.
“The Notorious B.G.” is a special that features the first MTV forum with Microsoft founder Bill Gates and MTV News correspondent Gideon Yago discussing the road ahead with a diverse group of approximately 80 tech-savvy 16- to 24-year-olds.
Now I haven’t gotten a chance to watch it yet, but I might get a chance to at some point today. Anyone else viewed it yet?

So this is pretty cool. The beta 1 ISO is available for Symphony OS a Debian/Knoppix-based Linux distro with a brand new window manager. They did away with KDE and Gnome in favor of starting from scratch so that they could design it from the bottom up to be more user friendly.

Straight off of digg, but this looked like a very good deal.
“This 1 MILE Wireless Network Kit is a simple, affordable way to improve the performance of any network, have your own hotspot and make money. You can’t go wrong for only $49.99.”
I also found a link to a review of the product buried in the comments. The long and short of the review is that the product meets specifications. Now in a city like Fargo, where no one locks their access points, I would be really interested in seeing just how many AP’s I could pick up from here.
Compgeeks always has provided me with good quality equipment, so I personally wouldn’t hesitate to buy from them again.
